About the Artist
Jacqui Cleijne is an emerging artist who is mostly self-taught. Her Wildlife work and pet
portraits have created a lot of interest with Galleries, locals and overseas clients.
Jacqui was born in Tasmania in 1968 and has often said how very fortunate she is being
brought up in such a beautiful environment. Tasmania is an Artists paradise. Everywhere
you go there is something different to see and paint.
Tasmania's beautiful scenery and our unique wildlife are just the beginning for inspirational
subjects to paint. Jacqui's artistic ability was discovered at a very young age and art
teachers were amazed at the level of natural ability she demonstrated at the time. Jacqui's
experience has been gained through sketching regularly and reading about techniques used by
many great artists. Jacqui has adopted her own unique style and paints her subjects with
passion and enthusiasm.
Most of her working life Jacqui trained and worked as an Architectural Draftsperson and in
her spare time concentrated on further developing her art. Over time Jacqui discovered art
as her first passion realising that drafting just wasn't creative enough for her.
Jacqui has exhibited in several local group exhibitions with sales at all venues and is
constantly in demand to paint commissions. Most of her subjects have been animal subjects,
and wildlife. Jacqui discovered painting animals when a friend asked her to portray her
two dogs together and her friend's reaction to the finished portrait was something Jacqui
said she will cherish forever. Jacqui realised from that moment that animal art is what
she wanted to specialise in.
Jacqui has painted many more animal portraits and she never tires of portraying them.
Jacqui paints in all mediums and specialises in pastel and watercolour, as it has a
beautiful soft quality about it and complements the softness and beauty of our animals.
Jacqui's ambition is to become one of Australia's leading
Wildlife Artists. Relax and
browse through her web site and you will agree this is a very talented artist. We will
be hearing much more of Jacqui in the near future!
